ABSTRACT

Stress plays a critical role in information security policy (ISP) compliance behavior. Since there are multiple sources of stress, the current literature does not provide a consistent view of the association between stress and ISP compliance behavior. Understanding the significance of the association between stress and ISP compliance behavior is valuable for managers, especially in managing the tradeoff between stress and ISP compliance behavior among individuals. It is also important to understand why there has been so much inconsistency in past studies. Thus, we attempted a meta-analysis to provide a generalized interpretation of the association between stress and ISP non-compliance behavior. A systematic literature review and a meta-analysis are conducted to examine the underlying contradiction and aggregate the findings of relevant studies. The results of this meta-analysis confirmed a weak positive correlation between stress and ISP non-compliance behavior. Demographic characteristics like age, country, and the category of the respondents (employee vs non-employee) are significant predictors of the association between stress and ISP non-compliance behavior. The meta-analysis presented here is also pertinent to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, which forced organizations to engage with their employees in new working conditions, putting employees under more stress and strain. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

ABSTRACT

One of the main concerns for organizations in today's connected world is to find out how employees follow the information security policy (ISP), as the internal employee has been identified as the weakest link in all breaches of the security policies. Several studies have examined ISP compliance from a dissuasive perspective;however, the results were mixed. This empirical study analyses the impact of organisational security factors and individual non-compliance on users’ intentions toward information security policies. A research model and hypotheses have been developed in this quantitative study. Data from 352 participants was collected through a questionnaire, which then validated the measurement model. The findings revealed that while security system anxiety and non-compliant peer behaviours negatively impact users’ compliance intentions, work impediments positively influence these intentions. Security visibility negatively influences users’ non-compliance, and security education systems positively impact work impediments. This research will help information security managers address the problem of information security compliance because it provides them with an understanding of one of the many factors underlying employee compliance behaviors.

ABSTRACT

The world is witnessing an increasing development towards the use of telecommunications technology in the judicial system. This use has increased by the resort to the remote litigation system in light of (Covid-19) pandemic. However, a major question remains about the guarantees offered to litigants while using this system, and whether these guarantees are similar to traditional (i.e. non-electronic) litigation. This paper highlights the UAE model in providing sufficient technical guarantees to protect the rights of litigants while using technology in litigation, such as: Recording, safekeeping and confidentiality of the records of remote litigation;applying information security policies;the transcription of remote litigation procedures into electronic or hardcopy minutes or document;Acknowledging the validity of e-documents and e-signature;and Technical Guarantees accompany the attendance and pleading of the parties shall be provided. © 2021 IEEE.
